"No More Questioning Measurement Validity": Inside T&G Fresh's First Season with Source

No shared source of truth across sites.

Each of T&G Fresh's three locations tracked its own crop data, with no single place to bring it together. Comparing how one site's crop balance stacked up against another meant reconciling different spreadsheets and different habits, not a shared view. For Head Grower Chris Cowie, that made it difficult to know whether a reading from one site meant the same thing at another.

Crop balance came down to a judgment call.

Deciding whether a crop's energy was in balance, generative or vegetative, had always relied on experience and a subjective read of the plant. Without a consistent, trusted number behind that read, measurement validity was constantly questioned. A grower's call was only ever as strong as the argument they could make for it.

Beyond the surplus catch itself, T&G Fresh came out of the season with something more durable: a shared standard.

Because the Plant Balance KPI and Workspace dashboards were consistent across all three locations from the start, the same standard was already in place everywhere, not something that had to be introduced site by site after the fact. Every grower, at every location, works from the same signal.
