Your Crop Plan Now Shows the Waste You Register

The Waste % in your crop plan now matches the waste you register, so it's a number you recognise and can edit with confidence.

What's new

In the Crop Plan Simulator, Waste % now comes from the waste you registered with your harvest over the last ten weeks. Until you have registered enough, it uses the typical waste for your variety.

Fruit loss that isn't registered waste now sits in two read only columns of its own:

-Observed fruit loss %: fruits lost before they are ready to harvest, such as pruned, aborted or removed for quality. Measured per variety from plant measurements.

-Unobserved fruit loss %: harvest that never appears in your registrations, as harvest or as waste. For example, fruit lost unseen or a difference in fruit weight.

Why it matters

When you edit Waste %, your expected harvest changes by exactly the amount you changed. The expected harvest itself stays the same: in a backtest of 611 cultivations, the net harvest was identical before and after.

Availability

Live now on web for all tomato crop plans. If you saved your own column layout and it includes waste, both new columns are added automatically. Click the info icon on either column for an explanation in the Help Center.
