Start Irrigation on Light, Lamps Included (IIVO)

If your IIVO climate computer counts lamps in the radiation sum, you can now start the irrigation day on light instead of the clock.

What's new

The Radiation start in Phase 1 is now available for growers whose climate computer includes artificial light in the radiation sum. Irrigation Control counts the lamp light when it predicts the first shot.

Why it matters

The first shot Control plans lines up with the moment your climate computer fires, so Phase 1 and the first drain stay on plan on lit mornings. In counterfactual runs on 7 mornings with lamps on, the planned start matched the simulated climate computer on all 7.

How it works

-In General settings, make sure Artificial light is on, with the lamp window and intensity set to how your lamps actually run.

-Open the irrigation strategy settings and go to Phase 1.

-Choose Radiation as the irrigation start.

-Set the Radiation sum setpoint first shot, Earliest start time and Latest start time.

-Simulate and check the first shot in the irrigation strategy chart. On mornings when lamps have run since the night, the first shot usually lands on the earliest start time.
